IPL 2021 | CSK’s Faf du Plessis sustains injury, Who will open with Ruturaj Gaikwad?

 

The second-placed Chennai Super Kings (CSK) may have received a huge setback as their form opening batsman Faf du Plessis has sustained a groin injury playing in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL) captaining the Saint Lucia Kings.

 The 37-year-old is amongst the leading scorers in the CPL this season and had scored a sensational 84 in his last game for the Kings. In Phase 1 of the IPL, du Plessis was again one of the leading run-getters, scoring 320 runs in just seven games

Du Plessis has been a staple at the top of the order for CSK over the years, and should he miss out, it will be a huge blow to MS Dhoni and Co. The three-time champions already have doubts about the participation of their England stars Moeen Ali and Sam Curran, while there is no backup in place for Du Plessis, other than Robin Uthappa and N Jagadeesan. CSK begin their campaign on September 19, when they take on the Mumbai Indians.

Big Statement from Kuldeep Yadav for KKR team management

  Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav has hit out at the Kolkata Knight Riders team management and captain Eoin Morgan for lack of communication during the first part of the Indian Premier League season.   Yadav didn’t feature in even one of the seven matches played by KKR and that might have cost him a chance of proving his credentials again.   The left-arm wrist spinner hasn’t held back while talking about his team.   “If the coaches have worked with you before and are with you for a prolonged period of time, they understand you better.   The opening match of the TNPL 2021 was played between Lyca Kovai Kings and Salem Spartans.   Batting first, Lyca Kovai Kings reached 168 for 5 in 18 overs . Debutant Bhardwaj Sai Sudharsan made a sparkling 43-ball 87 for the Lyca Kovai Kings that includes 8 fours and 5 sixes , before rain played spoilsport at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Monday.
