ENG vs IND 3rd Test Match Preview | England vs India 3rd Test Fantasy Team | Pitch & Weather Report
India is currently up against England in a five-match Test series taking place in the UK and will be keen on making a mark going ahead. As the series currently stands 1-0 in the favour of visitors, India would be putting the best foot forward to maintain the lead. The 1st Test between the two cricketing giants resulted in a draw as rain played the spoilsport in Nottingham.
India Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane said the visitors
haven't decided on their combination despite Shardul Thakur being declared fit
for the third Test. Rahane also said the side is not thinking too much about
the conditions and are just focusing on the next match. "We are
taking it one match at a time, win or lose, it is important to stay in the
present. We are confident about our unit, we have been playing some good
cricket and it is about staying in the moment and focusing on the next match.
"We are not thinking too much about the conditions and whatever Headingley
has to offer. We just want to give our best, all players are in a good
headspace and it is about putting our best foot forward," he added.
The opening duo of KL and Rohit has been
performing well for India so far. Their patience and skill against the new ball
are also heading in the right direction, On the other hand, it will be expected
from Virat Kohli to get back to scoring runs, and a century that has been
long-awaited. Though an additional spinner might be expected in Leeds, it is
highly unlikely that India will tweak its winning combination and hence would
go with four pacers and a lone spinner in Ravindra Jadeja.
Pacer Mark Wood has been ruled out of the third Test owing to his shoulder injury and Saqib Mahmood is likely to get his Test cap in the coming game. On the other hand, Malan would be walking up in the top order in place of Dominic Sibley who has been dropped for his poor run of form with England. Joe Root and Malan will be essential for England to score some big runs in Leeds. While Root’s form has been impressive, Malan is being also expected to display good form owing to his County Championship run.
