India vs England 5th Test cancelled due to COVID-19 cases in Indian camp

The fifth Test between England and India is scheduled to begin at Old Trafford in Manchester has been indefinitely postponed to a later date, probably next year, the decision was taken after the BCCI and ECB mutually decided that it is the best way forward in wake of the Covid-19 scare that has gripped the series.

“Due to fears of a further increase in the number of Covid-19 cases inside the camp, India is regrettably unable to field a team. We send our sincere apologies to fans and partners for this news, which we know will cause immense disappointment and inconvenience to many.”

The ECB are keen to get the match on and are floating the idea of starting on Sunday. However, the sticking points seem to be that some figures within the BCCI wants the match to be canceled outright. Should the BCCI get their way, it would cost the ECB £30 million.
