Domino's Announces "Free Pizza for Life" To Olympic Champion Mirabai Chanu
Domino’s India have promised a lifetime free supply of pizzas to weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, who won the first medal for India at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 on Saturday. she clinched silver in women’s 49kg weightlifting event. Chanu thus becomes the second ever Indian female weightlifter after Karnam Malleswari to win an Olympic weightlifting medal. Chanu took the silver lifting a total 202 kg
– 87 kg in
snatch and 115 kg in clean and jerk. She successfully lifted 84 kg and 87 kg in
her first two attempts in snatch category
but failed in her final in which she targeted
89 kg.
“The first thing
I will do is have a pizza. I love pizza’s and I haven’t had one in a while,”
Chanu told NDTV after her memorable triumph
at the Tokyo Olympics. Domino’s India were quick to react after Chanu revealed her love for pizza and
promised the star weightlifter free supply of pizzas for lifetime to honour her triumph.
“She said it, we heard it We never want @mirabai_chanu to wait to eat Slice of pizza again so we’re treating her to FREE Domino’s pizza for life! #PizzasForLife,” Domino’s India wrote in a tweet .
Earlier, the
weightlifter was promised a sum of Rs 1 crore by Manipur Chief Minister N.
Biren Singh, along with a job
opportunity better than her current profile at the Railways. In a video
interaction that the Chief Minister
had with Chanu after her exploits, he was clear
in saying that Chanu would
no longer be collecting
tickets and that he has reserved a special post for her which he wants to keep
as a surprise.
